​Meirlich Oga's Children's Home follows sixteen-year-old Kitty Thompson, a self-taught lockpick with a penchant for breaking out of the orphanages she’s been stuck in for almost a decade. But after her umpteenth failed escape, Kitty is picked up by Meirlich Oga’s Children’s Home, an establishment in the heart of London with only five other children, two keepers, and unimaginable wealth. Kitty soon learns the home operates as a children’s crime guild, a children’s crime guild in desperate need of a new lockpick. Though, lockpicking is the least of Kitty’s concerns at Meirlich, as she works to keep up with the pace of her fellow orphans, navigate new and complex relationships, and face off against outside threats, all while maintaining the delicate secret of her new home.
